The WineHunter is a brand of excellence in the world of wine, organizes the Merano WineFestival and other events dedicated to wine lovers not only in Italy but also abroad. Let’s discover together all the planned activities for 2020, which promises to be a year full of challenges, commitments, and successes for the company led by Helmuth Köcher, president and founder of the Merano WineFestival, and the sole administrator of Gourmet’s International and The WineHunter.
Palazzo Squarcialupi – Santa Maria della Scala, from February 1 to 3, will host Wine&Siena, the event that inaugurates the year of gastronomic appointments of WineHunter. This event was desired by the organizing minds of the Merano WineFestival, organized together with the Confcommercio of Siena, the Siena – Arezzo Chamber of Commerce, and the Municipality of Siena, to celebrate in Siena, a city symbol of Italian viticulture, the awarded wine excellence The WineHunter Award. An event in which the city becomes the star, immersing producers and visitors with gastronomic paths in a unique atmosphere where the history of the land is reflected in the places.
From March 29 to 31, attention will shift to the United States of America with the sixth edition of WineHunter USA in Houston and New Orleans. The American public's interest in Italian excellence is a continually growing phenomenon. This demonstrates an increasing attention towards the search for wines and products of the highest quality capable of narrating Italy, its history, and its traditions. Italian excellences are often synonymous with versatility, able to combine cuisines and dishes from all over the world, enhancing their characteristics and flavors.
After the stop in the USA, on May 1 comes the first novelty of 2020: WineHunter Castel San Pietro Terme, in the province of Bologna. The WineHunter arrives in Emilia-Romagna, and this first edition will highlight the wines and culinary products awarded The WineHunter Award with a special focus on the products of the Emilia-Romagna region. A careful selection to bring the best of excellence and quality of Italian gastronomic products, but not only!

From Bologna, the event will then move to Austria in Vienna, from June 6 to 8, for WineHunter Wien, now in its sixteenth edition. This is a well-established event promoting Italian excellence in the gastronomic landscape. Products of certified quality, selected by The WineHunter, Helmuth Köcher, owner of the Merano WineFestival, awarded with The WineHunter Award Rosso, Gold, or Platinum, will be presented at the Museumquartier in Vienna, located right in the center of the city.

Next stop in Germany, in Munich, on June 22 for WineHunter München gourmet’s Italia.
The event, carried out in collaboration with the Italian-German Chamber of Commerce of Munich, is desired by the organizers of the Merano WineFestival and reflects its values of excellence and elegance in the wonderful event location of the Künstlerhaus München.
In September in Rome, for the fifth consecutive time, the Acquario Romano will host the first Preview of the Merano WineFestival 2020. The suggestive and elegant location will host the excellences of the Italian gastronomic landscape carefully selected by The WineHunter. A first taste of what will be found at the Merano WineFestival in November!
On November 26 and 27 at the hippodrome of Merano, the MWF Hippodrome Merano Preview will take place. The event is part of the prestigious equestrian event of the 81st Gran Premio Merano Alto Adige, on the occasion of which the most important obstacle race in Europe takes place. Two days during which elegance and sociality will prevail. On October 17 and 18, still in Merano, during the traditional Grape Festival, The WineHunter, and the Merano WineFestival will set up a tasting route of wines from South Tyrol from the areas of Merano and surroundings, and local products along the Passeggiata Lungo Passirio.
On October 23, from 7 PM to 11 PM, there will be the last event before the Merano WineFestival, the last Preview which will take place in the Thalguterhaus in Lagundo. Here, you will have the chance to taste the atmosphere of the upcoming Merano WineFestival, which will take place in November, while savoring a good glass of wine carefully selected by The WineHunter along with the culinary specialties of Lagundo.
From November 6 to 10, the twenty-ninth edition of the Merano WineFestival will take place. It is the first event organized in Europe, which since 1992 has exclusively focused on selected quality in an elegant and elitist environment. It was the first to create a sensory path with a single glass, and the first event ever called WineFestival.
The Merano WineFestival is not just an event; it is a true forum for the exchange of opinions among producers, opinion leaders, industry professionals, and consumers: a benchmark for gastronomic excellence. The visibility and notoriety at a global level of the Merano WineFestival is a quality brand. A selected company from the Merano WineFestival becomes part of the elite of high quality.
