Belonging to this cluster are the countries that base a large part of their commercial activities on the market for
spices. They will showcase here Afghanistan, Brunei Darussalam, the United Republic of Tanzania, and Vanuatu. Each state will present all the spices they cultivate in wooden containers at their stands.
A Journey Through Spices
A journey into the exotic and vibrant colors. The concept of the Cluster has been designed as an itinerary. The trade routes of
spices will be exhibited, showcasing true expeditions, where adventure, risks, encounters, and clashes with local populations were commonplace. Similarly, visitors will find themselves traversing these itineraries and reliving the essence of discovery, savoring and enjoying the proposed aromas. Some historians assert that voyages to new continents were driven by a desire to find new low-cost drugs.
Spices were and are used in cooking to enhance and preserve food, such as
cheeses (think of pepper cheese or Bagoss with saffron) and
cured meats such as black pepper Lardo, Soppressa, Mortadella,
Salama Ferrarese. They had and still have healing properties; among many natural medicines, we remember Ayurveda. Another major field of use is cosmetics.
The future is bright for the spice market, which is constantly on the rise. Consumption is expected to increase in reference to a healthier diet.
