Cardamom Seeds: use in the kitchen

Cardamom is the third most valuable spice in the world after vanilla and saffron. It is a highly fragrant spice that was already used by the Greeks and Romans as a base for their perfumes. It is an exotic plant that features shell-shaped seeds containing many black-brown seeds. The seeds are the true spice and are usually separated from the capsule at the time of use. It can be of two genera: Amomum and Elettaria. Both come from the regions of Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Iran, India, and Malaysia. Elettaria is used for cooking while Amomum is primarily used in Tibetan medicine. It is used in the preparation of Turkish coffee or Iranian tea.
