For many people, it is more important to receive awards than to give them. Instead, we like the opposite!
Not that we don’t enjoy receiving recognition (otherwise we wouldn’t be going to Fico on February 23 and 24 to collect two awards for Spaghetti & Mandolino and Dottor Peperoncino, awarded among the top 100 e-commerce websites nationally in the food sector), but giving awards is different because it allows us to pay attention to the elements that make a brand, a person, a product interesting, “cool,” and attractive, and thus learn, learn, learn.
Learning because the goal of Spaghetti & Mandolino is precisely to communicate and help enthusiasts appreciate the best of Italian producers and products in the food and wine sector, leveraging all 5 senses.
The award comes from the collaboration with Compagnia del Cioccolato (the largest Italian association dedicated to chocolate - www.cioccolato.it) and from the training/communication path undertaken with them.
Chocolate is a bit like wine: there are different types, and for each type, there are infinite nuances created by the raw material and the skill of the chocolatier.
We attended the selections, participated in the evaluation panels, and tasted a portion of the over 1,200 “samples” received (and I assure you that each one was different and it was beautiful to evaluate it beyond the “good or not good”).
Obviously, we couldn’t award based on the quality of the chocolate, the taste, or other parameters that don’t concern (yet, because we are all studying to become Chocolate Testers) Spaghetti & Mandolino.
We awarded the chocolatier who impressed us the most with their communicative effectiveness.
Among the selections made by Compagnia del Cioccolato, we decided to award Sabadì.
Packaging: the presented packages appeal to all types of consumers attracted by colors and designs very different from almost all other chocolates.
Naming: each product has a unique name that characterizes it, outlines its personality and already brings a smile of sympathy and complicity even before tasting.
Personality: the previous two elements, combined with the story of Sabadini and the online content, convey to us and informed consumers the entire personality and consistency of the brand.
Simple, we asked Stefano Costato, our designer and scugnizzo, to work on the plaque to convey our message in the most coherent way possible to the image. The plaque was then included in the design of a wine package that contained a bottle from one of the producers in the club. And it doesn’t end there…
To complete our concept of circularity, we asked Stefano Bugamelli, our ambassador, Chocolate Tester, and one of the guiding stars of the project since he was one of my first mentors in the field, to come on stage and read the motivations for the award.
Who won the awards from Compagnia del Cioccolato: here’s the press release from Compagnia del Cioccolato.
