Here are the Intorchiate! They are delicious sweets that come from an ancient tradition of the Apulian lands.
The ingredients are those ancient and humble from the territory: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, flour, water, wine, and almonds. They are also called sweet taralli, and in fact, their dough is quite similar. The processing technique is too.
The dough is transformed into a long strand of pasta about one centimeter thick. It is then cut to a specific length that allows the production of a braid of four twists containing two almonds, which are baked together with the pastry.
The intorchiate are excellent with dessert wines made from white grapes. Pleasant to pair with sweet creams based on mascarpone with a sprinkle of cocoa or with chantilly cream.
Today, it is also common to dip them in hot melted chocolate... a delight!!
