Discover the Nasonte Special Food brand: here’s our interview.

The company Special Food Srl is located in the interior of Sicily and produces under the brand Nasonte a wide range of agri-food specialties typical of this extraordinary island. The idea behind it is to combine culinary creativity with the traditions of Sicilian cuisine, offering the world market some lines of agri-food products of excellent quality.

For the production of its products, Nasonte Special Food uses only ingredients and raw materials from carefully selected regional artisans and never adds any preservatives, colorants, flour, or thickeners, seasoning only with aromatic herbs and extra virgin olive oil to best showcase the genuineness of what is eaten. In this way, it manages to elaborate ancient recipes typical of Sicilian and Mediterranean cuisine, transferring all this goodness into convenient jars.

Under the Nasonte brand, the assortment is very vast and includes appetizers, sauces, pâtés, pestos, spreads, dried fruits, and various aromas. Special Food distributes its products only through specialized stores and gourmet points, ensuring high quality daily on your table, always.

We love these artisans, these producers of unique, certified, and award-winning delicacies: they are real treasures embedded in our Peninsula between seas and mountains and in the most remote streets of villages and countryside.     I am Adriano Maria Nasonte, administrator.
     
  • Is the company family-run? In what year was the company founded, and who was the founder?
    Yes, the company is family-run and was founded in 2016. 
     
  • Who was the founder, and what was their training or the work and professional field they came from if different from the current one?
    I created this company after working for local companies always in the same sector.
     
  • What is the real reason or triggering fact behind the creation of this company, and when did it happen?
    The pleasure of doing something good for my customers and creating local products with artisanal methods.
     
  • What is your relationship with the land of origin and its typicality? And why do you want to tell its story with your products?
    My relationship with the island is to pay homage by creating typical products with local raw materials from Sicilian culinary culture.
     
  • What was the first product you created?
    Chili pepper pâté and eggplant caponata.
     
  • What product do you now consider to be your "flagship"?
    Eggplant caponata, Sicilian pesto, and pistachio spread.
     
  • And what is the product that, in the entire history of the company, has most embodied the beating heart, philosophy, and soul of the company itself?
    In reality, all our products, which we create trying to achieve the highest final quality using the best raw materials from local companies that collaborate with us.
     
  • Let’s talk about today: how much has the company grown since its inception? Can we have some numbers?
    We are increasingly working with Sicilian ingredients, creating more and more local culinary recipes.
     
  • At this moment: more tradition or more innovation?
    Tradition. We care very much about offering our customers traditional products from our land.
     
  • What has been the most important evolution of the company to reach what it is today?
    Several investments and a lot of hard work. 
     
  • Talking about the future: what tomorrow awaits the company? Is there any change or new evolutionary process planned?
    The future is being born today, thanks to the creation of a new organic line to savor.
     
  • Are you planning to create new products?
    We have just created and shared new products with you. About a year ago, we indeed created the organic line under the Special Food brand.
     
  • Having focused on Spaghetti & Mandolino, how important is online sales for you, what has your relationship been with this sales channel in the past, and how do you see it in the future?
    We constantly keep an eye on online sales and are particularly surprised that they are increasing day by day.
     
  • Value: what has it been, what is it today, and what will it be in the future for your company?
    Quality comes first for us. Providing our customers with a good, healthy product made with quality ingredients is not only our mission but also a pleasure.
