Let's discover the La Fabbrica delle Olive brand: here is our interview

The Olive Factory is a &' company specialized in the processing of olives and vegetables that come from Italian and EU farms.
The beauty of good things” is precisely the motto of &' company. The reason? For them, good things refer to traditions, and so does &' the eye wants its part, which is why the 'beautiful'. What is traditional is genuine, and so are the products of the Olive Factory.

The production chain starts from participation in the harvest up to packaging. The products are transformed with modern technologies and carefully following the process that leads the semi-finished product to be a product ready to be consumed. All this is done while maintaining the vocation of &' craftsmanship that over the years has distinguished the &' company and has allowed it to establish itself.

The founder of La Fabbricca delle Olive is Domenico Maiello who in 2019 decided to create a &' an activity for the transformation and sale of olives. L&' experience in the field, however, begins much earlier: the paternal grandfather, in fact, in his spare time dedicates himself to the door-to-door sale of olives, while his maternal grandfather has a station at the Fuorigrotta market, where he sold olives, but also cold cuts and cheeses.
The turning point came in 1982, when Domenico and Maria's father founded a &' a company called “Maiellolive Sud”. L&' the founder of La Fabbrica delle Olive has been around for twenty years. Over the years, in fact, Domenico has specialized in the preparation and sale of olives and related products. The one about La Fabbrica delle Olive is therefore a real love story in the olive sector.

Today, the company processes olives in Campania, precisely in Castellammare di Stabia, but the origin of the raw material comes mostly from Sicily. #39 Both territories are characterized by traditions and flavors, which make the products of &' company so unique.

We like these realities, these producers of unique, certified and award-winning delicacies: they are real treasures embedded in our Peninsula between seas and mountains and in the most remote streets of villages and countryside. We don't stop to experience only their products, but we want to discover more closely the protagonists of this brand. That's why we sent some questions to those who manage communication with us.

  • Who are we talking to?
My name is Maria Maiello. I have a degree in finance and I deal with online sales and social channels. I also try to lend a hand in the office, with regard to billing and email management.
  • Is the company family run? For how many generations and from what year exactly?
The company is family run. In addition to the founder Domenico, there is me who is his sister, the brother-in-law Giovanni, and another boy named Christian. In his spare time, his paternal grandfather was already selling olives door-to-door. The maternal grandfather, on the other hand, had a stand at the Fuorigrotta market where he sold not only olives but also cold cuts and cheeses. The turning point came in 1982 when the founder's father founded the company under the name of “Maiellolive Sud”.
  • Who was the founder? What was the founder's education or what is the work and professional branch from which he came if different from the current one?
“The Olive Factory” was founded two years ago. Domenico Maiello is the founder. Even though the company is young, the founder has twenty years of experience in preparing and selling olives and related products because he worked in the same branch in his father's company founded in 1982.
  • What is the real reason or the triggering fact behind the birth of this company and when did it happen?
    Independence and desire for innovation
  • What is your relationship with the land of origin and its typicality? And why do you want to tell them with your products?
Our raw material comes mostly from Sicily. The processing takes place instead in Campania and precisely in Castellammare di Stabia, a land rich in traditions and flavors just like our products.
  • What was the first product you created?
The first product we created and put on the market are the classic Sicilian green olives in the 5 kg format intended for stores such as charcuterie and supermarkets.
  • What is the product that today, on the other hand, do you consider “top”?
The products that today we consider to be the star products are those in olive oil and ready to be enjoyed, such as the fantastic 'Puttanesca Olives' or 'Zingarella Olives'.
  • And what is the product that in the entire history of the company has most carried with it the beating heart, philosophy and soul of the company itself?
From the beginning, the beating heart of the company have been Sicilian green olives. The most loved by adults and also by children.
  • Let's talk about today: how big has the company grown since its inception? Can we get some numbers?
We really started from scratch as far as structure and machinery are concerned. To give a few numbers, I could cite, for example, the turnover, which increased by about 50% in two years.
  • Right now: more tradition or more innovation?
If I could express the answer as a percentage, I would entrust 30% to tradition and 70% to innovation.
  • What was the most important evolution of the company to get it to what it is today?
One of the most important evolutions has been the change of packaging. From simple plastic bags we have moved on to jars with lids that are certainly much loved by end consumers.
  • Speaking instead of the future: what tomorrow will the company wait for? Are there any changes or some new evolutionary process planned?
We dream of attracting tourists to our reality. By certainly making some structural changes, we would like to attract tourists to show the evolutionary process that brings the product to our tables.
  • Are you planning to create new products?
The last product created was 'Zingarella olives', but we plan to create new olive oil products and new formats.
  • Having focused on Spaghetti & Mandolino, how important is online sales for you, what was your relationship in the past with this sales channel and how do you see it in the future?
We think that online sales are very important for the future, as well as the key to reaching the hearts of all Italians.
  • Value: what was it, what is it today and what will it be in the future for your company?
“The beauty of good things.” The good, tasty things that refer to tradition. Beauty, because even the eye wants its part.
