Summer aperitif: alcoholic or non-alcoholic, always a success.

Summer aperitif, the favorite social moment on a warm summer evening! It doesn't take much to create the perfect one: just a bit of imagination and some snacks to pair with the aperitif, taking care to also prepare a non-alcoholic option for any guests who do not drink alcohol.

However, beware: you cannot call an aperitif a plate of olives speared with toothpicks; no matter how good they are, a small extra effort will be necessary to make a good impression. Not much: just a touch of creativity, and you're good to go.

Summer aperitif: the mise en place

A good summer aperitif starts with the mise en place, or the setup of the place where you will serve your aperitif. The eye wants its part too: think of a table on the balcony or terrace, arranged with a variety of colorful plates, glasses, and napkins. If there is no terrace, no problem; the living room table will work fine as well, the important thing is that your guests have a surface to place their plates and glasses without having to hold everything in their hands.

In this regard, a tip on preparing snacks: when the available space is limited, make sure that the snacks served are small, to be enjoyed in one bite, so that guests are not forced to hold too many things in their hands.

Summer aperitif recipes: the most delicious ideas

There are many recipes for a delightful and light summer aperitif. The alcoholic aperitif is the absolute classic, the one that makes every aperitif perfect and elegant. The star is definitely Prosecco served cold, in all its variations like Spritz.

Non-alcoholic options are perfect for your guests who do not enjoy alcoholic drinks, and can be made with soft drinks or gazzosa mixed with fantastic fruit juices.

A non-alcoholic aperitif can be made simply, as creativity suggests: a simple tonic with a tropical juice, for example, or a gazzosa lemon soda will be perfect and refreshing, not to mention its vintage charm.

Ideas for summer aperitif

Want to try a truly glamorous summer aperitif? Try the Basil Mojito, it will surprise you starting from the fact that it uses basil instead of classic mint. You will need a few basil leaves prepared in a container with lime juice and brown sugar. After mashing and mixing everything, add ice, white rum, and sparkling water (or tonic water) to taste. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a few slices of lime, and serve.

Another very successful alcoholic summer aperitif is the Garden Gin Tonic. Yes, you understood right, from the garden, because it requires cucumbers and rosemary. Preparing it is simple; just pour 3/10 of gin and 7/10 of tonic water into a glass with ice cubes; now add three thin slices of cucumber, so that the liquid absorbs its flavor, two sprigs of rosemary, and a slice of lime.

Snacks for summer aperitif: how to make a good impression

Presenting snacks for the summer aperitif is an art, but don't worry, it's not that demanding. Here too, imagination is everything. Obviously, organize the quantities of snacks based on your post-aperitif program: if a hearty dinner follows, don’t overdo it or your guests won't have room to enjoy what comes next.

In any case, the snacks offered come in many types and are always very tempting, just provide various choices: from chips to olives, from savory treats to the best ones, i.e., those prepared by you.

A good aperitif cannot do without cheese: a nice plate of fresh cheeses to pair with croutons always has great success, just like a meat platter, which might include an excellent bresaola, lighter to consume in summer. With the cheeses, you might prepare puff pastry delicacies, maybe adding some zucchini or eggplants. You could also create some dips, or buy ready-made ones. There is a great variety to pair, such as red onion sauces, balsamic vinegar glaze, pear or quince compote. All this will give the buffet a guaranteed substance and a certain freedom of pairing for those who want to stay lighter, or for those who want to indulge a bit more.

Ideas for apericena: when the aperitif merges with dinner

In summer, a convivial moment like an apericena is very appreciated because it is enjoyed in an informal way and, above all, there is the possibility to remain lighter.

In this case, it’s time for bruschettas and sandwiches, which can be made in many ways. The sandwiches can be filled in various ways, but prefer fresher ingredients such as salad, tomatoes, bresaola, or salmon, shrimp, or tuna, which will provide the sandwich with the right substance while remaining light at the same time.

With bruschettas, you can never go wrong: toast the bread well and spread with garlic and oil for the most classic bruschetta, or add fresh cherry tomatoes or one of our savory creams for a lighter result. There are many variants of sauces that can be paired, and you can arrange them on the table so that guests can choose how to compose their bruschetta, also pairing with freshly sliced cold cuts.

Non-alcoholic summer aperitif: some ideas for those who do not drink alcohol

For those who do not enjoy alcoholic drinks, there are still many ideas for a truly delightful non-alcoholic summer aperitif.

Let's see how to prepare a non-alcoholic aperitif with lemon, orange, and mint. Simple and delightful, refreshing and cool; its preparation requires few ingredients and its success is guaranteed. Fill 1/3 of the shaker with ice cubes, add one glass of lemon juice, one glass of orange juice, and shake. Pour the mixture into glasses until halfway, then add tonic water filling the glass to the rim. Add mint leaves and garnish the glass with lemon and orange wedges. Delicious!

Imagination knows no bounds, so to create fabulous non-alcoholic aperitifs, you can mix very good exotic fruit juices with tonic water or gazzosa. A unique pleasure and alcohol-free!

Summer aperitif, a sparkling pleasure to enjoy in all its variations; you just need to mix simple ingredients with your imagination. Cheers to all!
