Almost two hundred years of history, seven generations, a single passionate goal: to create d& #39 distillates; excellence starting from zero km pomace, 100% Piedmontese. This is the portrait of Mazzetti d&' Altavilla, the most historic North-West Distillery, which makes the distillation of individual vines its flag.
The Mazzetti d'Altavilla have been distillers since 1846 and theirs is a historic name well known to lovers of grappa and distillates. The headquarters of this historic distillery, founded before the unification of Italy, represents an important point of reference also for tourism in Monferrato, being a tourist reception point to spread the culture of conscious tasting.
Mazzetti d'Altavilla boasts many records such as that of longevity, with more than 170 years of activity, but also that of family-run management for such a long period. The key to the success of the company, in continuous growth, lies in tradition and in the capacity for innovation, but also in the production philosophy, uncompromising in substance and also in packaging, all choices that make it possible to say that grappa, at Casa Mazzetti, is first and foremost an emotion, as well as an elegant and captivating distillate.

In the distillation process, some elements have remained essential, such as the freshness of the pomace at zero kilometers (the vines are all of Piedmontese origin to fully enjoy the aromas and quality of the raw material) but also the basic mission, namely to obtain single grape grappas to make the most of the typical notes of the various types, of which the most popular are Nebbiolo da Barolo and Barbaresco, Barbera, Moscato, Arneis, Ruchè, Dolcetto and Chardonnay. No exception, however, is the particular preservation in “salamoni”, the “discontinuous” distillation and all the elements that contribute to the final quality of the product, such as l&' ancient method of distillation in stills to offer peculiar scents and aromas with well-structured identities, the preservation in barrels that allow the distillate to evolve and become a meditation poem, but also the captivating packaging that makes this product a delight for the eyes as well.
But that's not all. Attentive to the quality of the raw material and the environmental impact, the headquarters of Mazzetti d'Altavilla is “Green Inside” thanks to the green philosophy of energy supply that reduces carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. The Mazzetti d'Altavilla range ranges from young grappas to aged grappas, also offering special brandies, aged even for 27 years, gins and bitters. The Mazzetti d'Altavilla company, however, is particularly fond of grappa, a great workhorse for generations.
How do you taste grappa? Simply with the right glass and at the right time. This Italian distillate is not only an excellent after-meal, but also a great aid in the kitchen when combined with culinary specialties, from &' appetizer to dessert, or used to create imaginative drinks.
