We have just left behind this 2020, a year that was truly difficult for all of us, marked by unpleasant words like "coronavirus" and "pandemic" that accompanied the news every day and our concerned chats in video conferences with our friends and family. But it was a year in which each of us wanted to somehow turn our gaze towards the Beauty that remains, making our quarantine days more joyful by bringing flavors to our tables that reminded us of moments of conviviality and that made us look forward to the aperitifs with friends or the festive dinners that will come, as soon as all this is over.
A Beauty that we have tried to bring to your table. A Beauty handmade by artisans of taste. Our artisan suppliers, who also had to fight against this invisible threat, to whom we express our admiration for their fearless perseverance.

So here we are, the year 2021 has begun, and we can take stock of your favorite products, taking a look at both best sellers and surprises during this truly "particular" year.

Let's start with what is the best-selling product overall: the Organic Spaghetti made from Senatore Cappelli Wheat by Felicetti Pasta Factory. They are no longer a surprise: every year they are always on the podium and often vie for first place alongside the spaghettoni made with the same wheat. A true guarantee, an absolute delicacy! Just as the Trentino pasta factory is a guarantee, recognized once again this year as the best artisan pasta factory in Italy.

PASTA

Indeed, Spaghetti & Mandolino every year sells more and more pasta compared to any other product category, but probably with a name like this, what else could our portal sell?
Senatore Cappelli Spaghettoni by Felicetti in second place, as already announced, but the surprise of the category this year has been the Gluten-free Quinoa Real BIO Penne by Pasta d’Alba, sold 50% more than last year. The Piedmontese company, engaged for years in the creation of pasta with alternative gluten-free flours, therefore stands as our second best pasta factory.

FORMAGGI

Our portal has the richest cheese catalog on the web and the second category of best-selling products could not be anything but this. The cheese that has experienced a real boom in sales this 2020 is Montebore Slow Food Presidio, sold over 500% more than last year! To say it was desired is really an understatement: thanks to a couple of TV shows that talked about it, this cheese, made by only one dairy in the province of Alessandria, has become very famous and sought after from all over Italy and beyond! This is a great story of rebirth, as this small dairy masterpiece had gone extinct and the Vallenostra dairy is the only one that has resumed producing it.
We can say that in addition to being the best-selling cheese, it also represents the true surprise of this product category.
The second surprise is another great cheese that must have tempted many of you. In fact, its sales increased by 250%: we are talking about the Blu Dominik aged with Rum and Cocoa, a creation by the Verona master cheese refiner Giuseppe Bernardinelli from I Sapori del Portico.

SALUMI

After cheeses, here come the cured meats, another category ultra-sold by Spaghetti & Mandolino. The most desired product in this category has been the Horse Flakes by Coppiello, a true specialty from Padua. A product that has increased its sales by 52%.
The real surprise among cured meats has been the Ciccioli from Salumificio Pedrazzoli, which saw their sales increase by 227%! A typical cured meat from the Po Valley often used as an appetizer. The desire for carefree enjoyment has indeed been significant in this 2020! How can we blame you?

OTHER CATEGORIES

Let's talk about other categories.
Among the sauces and condiments, the most desired has been the Pacchetella with Piennolo Tomatoes from I Sapori Vesuviani.
The most consumed drink has been the Pure Bergamot Juice BIO from the Motta Consortium.
The most purchased vegetable has been the yellow BIO potatoes in a net by Gusta BIO.
The best-selling chocolate has been the one from Modica by Sabadì with its delicious Napolitains.
We also had a little boom in sales in the aromatic plants category that we have never recorded before: during the first quarantine, in fact, over 100 basil plants were sold Genovese basil.

AWARD WINEHUNTER

Already in 2019, Spaghetti & Mandolino became a partner of The WineHunter, but it can be said that it was in 2020 that the product range with Awards took shape. And so, small red, gold, and platinum badges began to appear within our portal.

Let's talk about the Wine category, the most abundant. The best seller was also one of the first we included, and from the start, it proved to be a success: it is the Prosecco di Valdobbiadene DOCG Dry Selezione Bottiglia Nera by De Faveri, awarded the Red Award in 2019.
The second best seller is another one among the first included: the Maestroso Romagna Sangiovese di Predappio DOC Riserva by Sadivino.

Now let's move to the Food category. The best-selling product with the Award WineHunter has been the cheese Gugole dolce sotto paglia aged by I Sapori del Portico.
Following is the Pesto alla genovese from I Vasetti di Riccardo. Both products are absolutely delicious!

A 2020 made of much work and dedication, even more so due to the pandemic, so much so that we also launched a home delivery service in our province, that of Verona (and beyond), which has helped numerous families receive directly from our hands the exquisite products of our suppliers.
