Did you know there is a Baking Day?

The Baking Day was born as an initiative to celebrate the passion for homemade pastry and the joy of cooking together, often with family or friends. Its origins are mainly linked to Anglo-Saxon culture, but it has spread to other countries thanks to the growing interest in "homemade" and a return to authentic culinary traditions. It is typically celebrated on the third Sunday of May, and the way it is observed can vary from country to country, largely depending on local culinary traditions and the significance attributed to homemade pastry.

In Italy, there is no official Baking Day as Italians are very much attached to home cooking, which has always been considered a moment to be treasured and shared. Just think of the many bakeries and workshops that still operate traditionally throughout Italy to realize the value of baking and pastry in our country.

3 good reasons to celebrate Baking Day

  1. Enhancing home cooking and sharing: to rediscover the beauty of cooking with simple and genuine ingredients; moreover, cooking together strengthens family and friendly bonds, creating moments of unity.

  2. Nutritional education: an opportunity to teach the little ones the importance of a healthy diet and the value of homemade food.

  3. Creativity and fun: pastry allows for artistic expression by decorating desserts and inventing new recipes.

Spaghetti & Mandolino always aims to bring the taste and flavors of the territory to the table, counting among its producers several laboratories and bakeries from different regions of Italy.

From Molise, the Artisanal Bakery Rosa Maria Vittoria lovingly renews each day the experience passed down from its master baker for over 70 years; in Campania, the Panificio Morra is a laboratory of traditional Neapolitan pastry; in Basilicata, we find the Forno Rinaldi; each offers not only a product but also its own personality.

This concept is what we want to renew with Baking Day: one’s own personality, the value, and the joy of a simple activity that often our limited time no longer allows us to experience.

Happy Baking Day to everyone!
