The Quince: A Millennial Story 

The quince was cultivated long before the common apple; originating from Asia Minor and the Caucasus, its origins date back to 2000 BC.

The plant is believed to have been imported into Andalusia by the Arabs in the 8th century AD.  The Sephardic community, great lovers of quinces, mostly consumed them cooked in various ways, including a version very similar to what we today know as cotognata.

The cotognata was so beloved in Spain that during the Aragonese domination, at the end of the 13th century, it also reached southern Italy.

The spread of cotognata to the north brought it to Lombardy, where it became an icon of generosity and hospitality.
Andrini Marmellate is the heir to this ancient tradition which has managed to preserve in some aspects and innovate in others.

The original recipe, made only with quince, sugar, and biblical patience, has undergone a metamorphosis in the skilled hands of Andrini. By adding citrus peels, their cotognata has evolved, while maintaining the essence of its history. A touch of class is revealed in the wooden packaging, a tribute to tradition and a step towards sustainability.
