The Visciolata from Podere Casella Muzighin is truly extraordinary! Also known as Visciole al Sole, the visciolata is prepared using visciole in the simplest and most natural way.
The visciole are a variety of wild cherry that is very ancient, growing spontaneously in the area since antiquity, characterized by an intense flavor that is not too sweet, with an intriguing almond-like aftertaste that creates a nice fresh and sour sensation.
In this traditional preparation, the whole ripe fruits (with the pit still inside), which are healthier and larger, are jarred by adding granulated sugar to fill all the empty spaces.
The jar is sealed hermetically with a screw cap and is then placed in a sunny spot for 30-40 days until the sugar is completely dissolved. The fruit thus candys but does not ferment and can therefore be consumed even by children. Try them: they are delicious!
