Pianezze is a beautiful location situated in the Monte Cesen area in the province of Treviso, just a few kilometers from the Valdobbiadene area. The Azienda Ponte Vecchio manages the Malga Mariech, from which it produces excellent aged cheese in ancient tuff cells. Additionally, a new but very pleasant product like the Piccolo Mariech, has a unique milky flavor derived from its freshness and medium aging.
The history of the Azienda Agricola Ponte Vecchio begins at an old mill located near the bridge that connected the Treviso plain to Valdobbiadene by crossing the Piave. It was there, in 1979, that Floriano Curto founded his company. Today, Ponte Vecchio refers to the location where the first wooden bridge was built to cross the Piave River, which began in 1871 and was completed in 1876. Unfortunately, by the end of the 19th century, the bridge was repeatedly destroyed by the frequent floods of the Piave, eventually being demolished permanently in 1912.
In 1911, however, another great stone bridge was inaugurated, which unfortunately had a short life as it was blown up by Italian soldiers retreating after the defeat at Caporetto in October 1917, who wanted to destroy it to prevent the Austrians from crossing the defensive line established along the Piave. Just across the river lies the Azienda Agricola Ponte Vecchio, situated in a territory that is entirely particular and suggestive due to the beauty of its pastoral landscape, but also rich in history and traditions.
MALGA MARIECH
In Pianezze, within the Monte Cesen area, the Curto family of the Azienda Ponte Vecchiomanages, on behalf of the Consorzio Valorizzazione Montana Monte Cesen, Malga Mariech, a beautiful establishment where high-quality cheeses are produced. A territory that rises above Valdobbiadene and which has historically always been linked to shepherding and dairy cow farming. The Malga, recently renovated, is also a starting point for beautiful hikes, outdoor walks, and a location with stunning rooms. The cheeses produced from the local milk are particularly vibrant in yellow and are suited for long aging, becoming even suitable for grating.
For generations, the Azienda Agricola Ponte Vecchio has indeed lived and worked in harmony with nature. It is a dynamic reality that develops in step with modern production technologies that allow it to face new scenarios, always remaining attentive to environmental sustainability and constantly maintaining the visceral bond it has with its territory and its traditions, which is exemplified in Malga Mariech.
The careful and respectful management of its lands, which include numerous pastures and woods, ensures the best products and safe sources for the feed of the animals that it has always raised with dedication and passion, enabling Malga Mariech to produce extraordinary cheeses in terms of quality and taste. This commitment is confirmed by the continuous improvement in production, quality, and welfare of the animals, as well as the growing success on national and international levels.
Indeed, Malga Mariech has won numerous awards for the cheeses it produces, thanks to the direct transformation of the milk produced. For years, the milk from Malga Mariech has been directly transformed within a modern and functional dairy that, in compliance with the strictest European health regulations, enhances the goodness and genuineness of traditional dairy products.
