Perla del Garda is a brand that has its roots originally in the Verona area and now in the lands of Lonato del Garda, in the province of Brescia. The story of the company Perla del Garda is a family-run story that officially began only in the 2000s, although in reality, it is much older and more ancient, as the Prandini family has kept alive the tradition of grape cultivation and wine production for generations, still relying on a vast tradition and knowledge that serve as solid foundations for the development of this activity. Today, the cornerstone of the company is Giovanna Prandini, who, along with her brother Ettore, decided to seize the opportunity to expand the family activities. Thus, from the simple sale and cultivation of grapes, the production of excellence wines under their own brand began, whose aromas and processing are inextricably linked to the richness of the territory and the family secrets.
Perla del Garda: the wine that is produced in the vineyard before it is in the cellar
A strong point of Perla del Garda is the zero km supply chain. Being an agricultural company, the grapes are directly cultivated, thus allowing for the monitoring of all production processes starting from the raw material. The vineyards, located between Desenzano and Sirmione, extend over approximately thirty hectares, of which 90% is occupied by Trebbiano di Lugana, but also by Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and other cultivars. Perla del Garda is the only winery in the area to have introduced gravity-fed winemaking, inspired by the processing of grapes and musts by gravity without the aid of pumps until the end of the fermentation process. The wine is produced in the vineyard before it is in the cellar. It is by following this philosophy that at the end of the 1980s, a new, more authentic, and genuine relationship began to understand the difference between organic and conventional agriculture, the importance of cover cropping, and the characteristics of the morainic hills with stony soil over 250m above sea level. The result is high-quality fruit and a production capable of meeting the highest quality standards, allowing the company to obtain the MAKE IT SUSTAINABLE certification, becoming the first Sustainable Lugana.
Wines of Perla del Garda: every Lugana is a unique experience
In the production of wines, there are three work plans that coincide with the main processing phases: the arrival of the grapes with the selection of the bunches, controlled temperature winemaking, maturation in barrels, and aging in the bottle. Lugana is the wine of the Territory, and Perla del Garda has decided to reinterpret it in all its types, recreating a true journey to understand the depth of the wine and its aromatic nuances. Lugana is indeed one of the few still white wines to have an excellent aging potential, which is why Perla del Garda has decided to express it according to different vintages, making each bottle a unique experience. The Lugana of Perla del Garda boast multiple accolades, even being included in the category of Italian excellences listed by Gambero Rosso.
