Il Molinaccio di Montepulciano

Il Molinaccio is a beautiful agricultural company boasting over 2.3 hectares of Sangiovese, Merlot, and other local varieties that together allow the company to produce a large quantity of quality wines and spirits.
The villa, built on the remnants of an ancient mill in the noble Medici town of Montepulciano, has reopened after extensive restoration work as a haven of tranquility and ancient traditions, surrounded by centuries-old oaks, olive trees, orchards, and especially vineyards. Montepulciano was indeed known for the “Nobile Wine,” one of the most internationally appreciated Tuscan wines, and Il Molinaccio proudly carries on this tradition.
From the grapes of these Tuscan vineyards also come the Rosso di Montepulciano, La Spinosa, and many other excellent wines. 

Il Molinaccio, the winery: a production focused solely on quality

Il Molinaccio is a small, but high-quality winery. The logo recalls the cypress trees and the wheel of the ancient mill that can be observed at the entrance of the estate. The first vinification took place in 2012; since that year, only an increase in fame and honors for Il Molinaccio.
French Allier barrels and light wood are used in the winery to gain in fragrance and elegance. And, in fact, these are characteristics of Il Molinaccio wines, marked by a sophisticated aroma and a woodland scent.
The entire production is numbered, a sign of attention to quality. It is no coincidence that each year about 10,000 bottles are produced, whose names pay homage to the various types of animals that can be found in the woods surrounding the estate, which, due to its beauty and rurality, has also been turned into an agriturismo to let guests experience the goodness and aromas of the typical products of the area.

Il Molinaccio: sustainability and Tuscanity

The winery is now divided into different production areas, to best enhance the vineyards and their aromas. Il Molinaccio winery has grown in respect for old traditions and the concept of “Tuscanity” which is highlighted at the table thanks to elegant dishes and full-bodied wines. Precisely because the origin of the product is one of the characteristics that make it unique, safeguarding and respecting the environment becomes a necessity. This is why among the rows there is maximum respect for the environment, ecosystem, and biodiversity, themes very dear to the company owners Marco Malavasi and Alessandro Sartini, so much so that in 2018 they initiated the process for the organic certification of their wines by banning pesticides and chemical herbicides, instead resorting to copper and sulfur to combat pests and keep the vines healthy.
Another significant decision for the health of the soil and land, starting in 2017, was to purify the well water to be self-sufficient and to install a photovoltaic system to cover a good part of the energy needs.
Also in the winery, of course, the main objective is to maintain high-quality standards in order to enhance and highlight all the nuances that the climate and territory have been able to impart to the grapes.
