The Mainente Winery was founded in 1939, when Virgilio Mainente purchased the estate where the company and the vineyards producing the grapes for Soave wine are located today.
Corte Mainente is situated near the Scaligero Castle of Soave. The winery produces, on just over 10 hectares, particularly interesting wines with a strong personality.
Until the 1950s, the estate operated by producing wine and agricultural products, and traditional animals such as cattle and pigs were also raised within the estate. The wine produced was sold to private individuals and in local taverns. Later, in the 1950s, the company specialized exclusively in wine production. The first production investments, such as the construction of several concrete tanks still used today for winemaking, date back to these years.
A significant development and advancement for the winery's history came from Ugo Mainente, son of Virgilio. Ugo graduated in Oenology from the wine school of Conegliano and, since then, has devoted all his passion and professionalism to the company. Thanks to him, since the 1960s, in addition to the historic Soave products (Soave and Recioto), the production of a sparkling Soave has also started.
The winery has always taken care of its relationship with customers, particularly direct sales. This has allowed the family business to passionately dedicate itself to the production of white wine.
The History, spanning three generations
In the early 2000s, Marco Mainente, the current agronomist of the winery, joined his father Ugo in managing the company. Hence, the third generation became part of the winery's history. In these years, Corte Mainente has invested in innovation.
First with the construction of the new crushing facility, specifically designed for white winemaking, and subsequently with the renovation of the area dedicated to winemaking. Currently, alongside Marco operates his brother Davide who, after obtaining a degree in oenology from the University of Conegliano and working in various wineries, holds the role of oenologist to maintain the production at levels of excellence. The two Mainente brothers also offer their wines outside Italian borders, exporting their artisanal production to various countries around the world and establishing new relationships of trust and friendship.
The best grapes
tradition and passion for wine:
The idea that good wine can only come from the best grapes has always accompanied us, and this is exactly why at Corte Mainente we are first and foremost viticulturists. The efforts of a year culminate in the harvest and the work in the cellar, where they commit to enhance the emotions that the meeting between grape variety and territory can encapsulate in a glass.
the vineyards:
The Mainente family directly works 12 hectares of vineyard divided into three plots, from each of these we produce a Soave: Cengelle, Pigno, and Tenda. They cultivate the Garganega grape using the traditional pergola method, which they believe is the best way to enhance the characteristics of Soave wine. A territory with a strong wine vocation where high-quality wines are born.
