Villa di Vetrice is a winery that represents the birth of an idea, whose story began centuries ago and continues to be written to create wines of the highest quality.
Villa di Vetrice: serving tradition for generations
Leaving Florence, you travel for a few kilometers east and suddenly a new world opens up: the heights of Chianti Rufina. On the hills of Rufina, you discover the vineyards of Villa di Vetrice.
In the midst of vineyards, olive groves, and cypress trees stands solemnly a watchtower from the thirteenth century, at the foot of which are nestled some manor houses.
The lands of Villa di Vetrice have been cultivated for five generations by winegrowers who passionately serve tradition. The estate of Villa di Vetrice covers an area of 560 hectares, of which 160 are cultivated with vineyards.
The vineyards are located high up, but the clayey and galestro soils are fertile, and the wines are elegant and complex.
Nature is a challenge, and the work requires effort, but it is worth it: here, grapes of remarkable quality grow. Those who love Tuscany will particularly appreciate Chianti Rufina.
Vini Villa Vetrice: elegant, complex, and high quality
The typical Chianti Rufina has a distinctly marked character, as does the landscape where the grapes used to produce it grow. But it is precisely this austere note that gives it strength, an intense elegance, and makes it more age-worthy than other wines. It can preserve its freshness for years, thanks to the cool evenings of Rufina. The beautiful fruit, the unmarked acidity, and the proper balance of tannins represent a statement. One wine, one word.
To savor the Chianti Rufina Riserva, one should take a bit of time. It, too, has allowed itself time: two years in oak barrels and at least another three months in the bottle have given it the elegance it deserves, conveying an experience of life that now, reaching full maturation, it will pass on in turn. Slowly, a wine of extreme finesse has been created, with a very intense aroma and great complexity.
The Chianti Rufina Riserva Terre di Avanella is a true revelation: it combines the Terroir of the single vineyard with the elegant fruit of Sangiovese. When you open a bottle, what emanates is the scent of ancient oak barrique. Once it has slowly taken the air it needs, notes of ripe grapes and cherries blend with earth, minerals, and dry complexity.
