This farm, which was founded in 1957, bears the name of the owner Grignano Giuseppe and is located in Xitta, a small hamlet in the municipality of Trapani, in northwestern Sicily. The farm covers an area of about 5 hectares of land, and the main activity, which has been passed down through generations, essentially consists of the cultivation of olive groves and, additionally, the production of extra virgin olive oil. The extra virgin olive oil produced by Grignano in 2002 even obtained the quality certification D.O.P Valli Trapanesi, a recognition that has made it a symbol of the territory as it is able to encapsulate all the typical flavors and aromas.
Their oil is packaged by third parties under the Baglio Legiato brand, a name referring to the ancient baglio, an old courtyard within a country residence, around which the cultivation still extends. The baglio overlooks the enchanting Mount Erice, which serves as a backdrop both to the lands where the olive grove is located and to the lands dedicated to the production of non-permanent crops. In fact, the farm also cultivates grain legumes, durum wheat, red garlic, fruits, and vegetables with the specific aim of processing, labeling, and marketing all these products in a way that broadens and diversifies its offerings. The cultivars of olives grown by Grignano are primarily two: Cerasuola and Nocellara del Belice.
