The adventure of Safranum begins in 2013, when the brand is registered, but its story begins exactly two years earlier.
Safranum: all the charm of the Langhe
It is indeed in 2011 that Roberto Lembo acquires a property of 6000 square meters on the hill of Montagliato, in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba, among the stunning territories of the Langhe, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. A breathtaking landscape and the energy bestowed by the land invite him to deep reflections, rediscovering the benefits that only a life in contact with nature can provide.
Roberto soon finds himself facing a problem: the land is too large to be a garden and too small for the classic agricultural productions of the Langhe. A few months later, during a trip, he is captivated by the story of a Frenchman who cultivated crocus sativus. Thus, the following year, he embarks on an adventure with his friend Furio Dutto, promising not to give up until they achieve a product of exquisite quality.
Safranum: saffron becomes red gold from Langa
After two years of study, Safranum is born, a brand registered by the Azienda Agricola Montagliato.
It is right here in Monforte d’Alba that Crocus Sativus (i.e., saffron) has found the perfect place to grow lushly in a completely natural way without fertilizers or additives. An optimal microclimate along with the minerals found in the soil, which already nourish the fine wines, makes the saffron rich in health-benefiting properties for those fortunate enough to taste it.
With continuous enthusiasm and humility, today the company produces high-quality saffron meeting the best standards required by the market. The production is carried out with crop rotation in the tireless pursuit of an ideal balance between man and nature.
