The Kellerei St. Michael Eppan - Cantina Produttori San Michele Appiano is today considered one of the most important names in &' South Tyrol, a real guarantee for lovers of South Tyrolean wines and more, thanks to its strong ability to make the most of the character of its territory.
Founded in 1907 thanks to a few winemakers who decided to join forces to improve the quality of their labels, the Kellerei St. Michael Eppan is today a reality that has about three hundred and fifty members for an annual production that exceeds two million bottles.
Year after year, this cooperative winery has been able to carve out a leading role in &' within the Italian winemaking reality. A real colossus, an absolute reference for the entire production world, not only in South Tyrol, which never betrays expectations thanks to a unique range of reliability.
Hans Terzer, oenologist at the Cantina dei Produttori di San Michele Appiano since 1978, has the great merit of having directed the winery's production towards high quality production, focusing his work on the care of every detail with a perfect combination of the value of tradition and l&' importance of &' innovation.
The new gravitational cellar of 30,000 m³, completed in 2020, makes it possible to guarantee a modern and effective delivery and processing of the grapes. The Kellerei St. Michael Eppan is able to optimize diversification and process the different qualities individually very quickly to preserve the quality of the fruit
The Kellerei St. Michael Eppan is passionately dedicated to creating great white and red wines, the perfect synthesis of this fantastic terroir that allows the cultivation of several great vines. The cooperative brings together about 340 families of winemakers scattered in different locations on the outskirts of Bolzano. The vineyards cover a total of 380 hectares in territories with different characteristics, including for the most part in the municipality of Appiano.
The grape metamorphosis takes place in the cellar. A combination of ancient and innovative winemaking techniques. “Respect for the fruit” is the most important rule for the production of long-lasting wines with a great personality. The production, entirely led by Kellermeister Hans Terzer, is planned through the study and enhancement of each individual vineyard. Fermentations take place in steel, with refinements that can also be carried out in large oak barrels or in barrels. From Gewürztraminer to Müller Thurgau, from Sauvignon to Riesling, from Pinot Blanc to Lagrein, every bottle is the perfect synthesis of the variety from which it is born. Fresh and vibrant wines, characterized by a clear territorial appeal and a surprising average quality.
