A small family business born from the passion for the hills and the fruits of the earth

This farm located in the first hills of Valpolicella, in the municipality of Verona, is a small family business. It is called San Dionigi and was purchased in 1968 by the maternal grandfather. In the 2000s, the farm was renovated by Elettra's father who, after dedicating himself to the legal sector for some time, fell in love with the vineyards, olive trees, and their precious products and has been able, over time, to make the rest of the family fall in love with this extraordinary reality.

The organic produced from love, passion, and respect for the territory

Love, passion, and respect for the territory have led the company to acquire organic certification in August 2020 which for this family represents a starting point, not a finish line. San Dionigi currently has approximately 7 hectares, of which 5 are dedicated to vineyards and 2 to olive cultivation. The enormous variety of grapes available to the company is extraordinary and almost all are exclusively native (Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara, Oseleta, Spigamonti, Croatina, and Sangiovese). As for the olives, the cultivars are: Grignano, Leccino, Favarol, and Pendolino.

Specialization in olive oil: from a product for family use to Veronese excellence

Initially produced for strictly family use, following several significant recognitions, the organic extra virgin olive oil of San Dionigi has been available for commercialization for a few years now.

The production of oil in the eastern Verona area is extremely limited, which is why the farm has decided to supplement its harvest with olives from other small producers of organic oil, who share its philosophy and have a very similar production in terms of organoleptic quality. "The result of the blend convinced us right away - says Elettra - a brilliant green oil that presents complex herbaceous notes with particular references to notes of sage, almond, wisteria, and green pepper. Our products are aimed at a knowledgeable and conscious clientele, seeking maximum quality in the product."

The 2018 harvest, Elettra recounts, brought great satisfaction: "our oil was included in the Gambero Rosso 2019 Guide to Italian Oils and in the 2019 Slow Food guide to extra virgin oils." Further recognitions included a commendation in the National Award l’Oro d’Italia 2019, selection for the AIPO Silver and winning first prize at the Festa dell’Olio - City of Verona. Even 2020 brought satisfaction; despite being a challenging year weather-wise, the oil from San Dionigi was once again included in the Slow Food 2021 Extravergini Guide.

The future projects of the Company

In 2022, the largest project of San Dionigi is taking shape: "a winery of our own, which gives our family the opportunity to realize and concretize our ideas and our philosophy also in the world of wine".
