Gennaro D’Andrea is a young farmer who inherited from his father the passion for his land and from his grandfather the name: yes, he is also Gennaro. At the beginning of the 20th century, he started the cultivation of hazelnuts on these beautiful hills and mountains at the border between Campania and Molise. The Campanian hazelnut, as we know, is one of the prized products of this lush and fertile land. Grandfather Gennaro put together a large estate that today is estimated at about 200,000 square meters, including meadows, hazelnut woods, solemn oaks, holm oaks, hornbeams, and pines. There are still areas that are impractical and yet to be explored for production. Today, grandson Gennaro is trying to make the estate as economically sustainable as possible. A lover of nature, its harshness, and its generosity, he decided to gather the fruits of the earth… rather, of the underground. And here the truffles are delicious, of excellent quality, and still unknown. The land is particularly limestone with a particularly soft surface where the woods of Alto Casertano and the Matese Massif extend. The backbone of the Southern Apennines that stretches towards Basilicata. A very protected area as it is nestled between the two large regional parks of Roccamonfina and Matese. We chose this farm because it is a new generation one and carries with it the passion of a young man who has decided to produce quality in a land that is not exactly easy, but where love for traditions and history are still shared values. Moreover, these are high-quality products, very good, selected with meticulous care by Gennaro. Furthermore, they are jarred while trying to maintain the substantial value of the underground hypogeal fungus as much as possible, without altering its peculiarities and original identity.
