Gennaro D’Andrea is a young farmer who inherited from his father a passion for his land and from his grandfather the name. He too is Gennaro, and at the beginning of the twentieth century, he started on these beautiful hills and mountains along the border between Campania and Molise, the activity of hazelnut cultivation. The Campanian Hazelnut is known to be one of the prized products of this lush and fertile land. Grandfather Gennaro put together a large estate that today is estimated to be about 200,000 square meters of meadows, hazelnut woods, solemn oaks, holm oaks, hornbeams, and pines. In addition, there are still areas that are not yet usable and to be discovered productively. An estate that today nephew Gennaro is trying to make as economically sustainable as possible. A lover of nature, of its harshness and its generosity, he has decided to gather the fruits of the land…better, of the underground. And here, the truffles are very tasty, of excellent quality, and still unknown. Particularly calcareous lands with a particularly soft surface where the woods of Alto Casertano and the Matese Massif extend. The backbone of the Southern Apennines that stretches towards Basilicata. A highly protected area as it is nestled between the two large regional parks of Roccamonfina and Matese. Excellent spreadable cream for crostini and to accompany baked goods like sesame breadsticks, blue poppy seed breadsticks, rosemary schiacchiatine, and crispy azzimini. Great for pairing with cheeses such as Bagoss, Pecorino di Pienza, and Pecorino di Forenza. Pair it with Ragusano DOP and Vezzena Stravecchio. Best enjoyed with aged and structured white wines.
