Verona has a centuries-old tradition with Gnocchi so much so that the traditional mask of the city is the "Papà del Gnoco". Gnocchi were used as they marked a day of celebration and great sharing with family and friends. Even today, the Friday that precedes Fat Tuesday is called "Venerdi gnocolar" and all families in the city and province knead the local potatoes to enjoy this delicious dish.
