Tarallini Pugliesi Wholemeal 250g

We present to you the whole grain taralli! The tarallo is one of the most recognized products as Italian abroad. Produced mostly in Puglia but with a tradition that extends to other Italian regions such as Campania, Basilicata, and Sicily. It is believed that they had their first origins in Naples, but the legends surrounding their first appearance are many and, like every regional product in Italy, are strongly contradictory. It is our story, our tradition from the small ancient villages anchored to the sea and the more inland lands. The simplest and humblest expression of street food. A delicacy today that has been revived and has even become a product safeguarded by national law, having been included in the PAT (Traditional Agri-food Product). They were made from leftover pieces of bread, kneaded with lard and wine. The Pugliese version differs as it uses extra virgin olive oil, of which Puglia is a leading producer. The taralli produced and offered by DolceArea are the most traditional, handmade, twisted and knotted by hand, with big chunks of product that make them unique and very tasty. They are oven-baked, and this too is their characteristic. So, NOT fried. They are unique taralli in their kind... a surprise for our palates.

Tarallini Pugliesi Wholemeal 250g: use in the kitchen

The Tarallino from DolceArea is handmade, stretched by hand, and knotted by hand.
You can see it because each tarallino is different from the others.

The whole wheat tarallini are very flavorful with a particularly pleasant and decidedly rustic, ancestral sensation.

They tell the story of ancient Apulian ovens that still fragrance the neighborhoods and quarters of the tuff cities.

They are particularly creamy on the palate even though they are rougher because they are made from whole grains of Apulian wheat.

Great with typical Apulian cold cuts like spiced sausages and capocollo with vincotto.
