The Gran Sardo di Pecora from the Taberna Imperiale is a cheese that can be defined as a true pecorino for grating.
Its great characteristic is the pleasant contrast between the grittiness and the softness of the pale straw-colored paste, typical of cheeses produced with Sardinian sheep's milk. A balanced mix of experiences enclosed in a compact and smooth rind.
This cheese originates in Sardinia, but is then brought to Abruzzo, in the stone caves of Rocca Calascio, where it is refined by the Taberna Imperiale and aged for 36 months.
The Gran Sardo is part of a selection of excellent cheeses by Giuseppe Bernardinelli and distributed by his I Sapori del Portico.

On tasting, the sweetness of the aroma harmonizes pleasantly with slightly spicy notes. This makes it perfect for giving dishes an even richer accent. It should be tasted on its own with a good glass of Cannonau DOC.
The Gran Sardo shares with the most famous Italian grating cheeses the ability to utilize all the substances present in the milk, allowing it to be an excellent product also for digestibility in nutritional terms.
