The Visciola wine is one of the typical products of the Marche region, particularly from Montefeltro. This product, already mentioned by the biographer of Duke Federico II da Montefeltro, is made from the fermentation of visciole cherries with sugar.
The visciole are a very ancient variety of wild sour cherry, characterized by an intense flavor, not too sweet, with an intriguing almond aftertaste that creates a nice fresh and tart sensation.
The ingredients are placed in closed containers for controlled temperature fermentation, and then, subsequently, the wine from the previous year is added. The resulting mixture is left to rest for at least four years before bottling. This is how the inimitable Visciola wine from Podere Casella Muzighin is born!
The Visciola wine obtained is clear, consistent, deep ruby red in color, with a very intense aroma of visciola liqueur. One can also recognize mineral hints of graphite, chocolate, and rosehip. On the palate, it appears sweet, warm, soft, with great freshness and good tannicity. In conclusion, a pleasant note of Saronno amaretto is finally perceived.
The name pays homage to the inspirer and the one who has always produced Visciola wine for the family, namely Serafino Pizzoni. By adding the initial article "il Serafino," it becomes a name that alone conjures up the sensations experienced when tasting the product: sensations of warm tranquility and pleasure.
