Visciola del Lupo - Visciole Wine 500ml

The cherry wine called Visciola del Lupo, a true flagship product of Luca Tenti, is an ancestral product from the Adriatic coast that will bring ancient medieval flavors to your palate.
The first recipe, in fact, dates back to that era and was created to improve those wines that deteriorated with the first summer heat by adding local seasonal fruit. Just like the ancient Romans did, after all.
The cherry wine was thus born out of necessity, with many methods and recipes secretly kept and passed down by each farming family. 

This wine is produced using the same method adopted by the Tenti family for generations, adding freshly picked cherries to Aleatico red wine (Vernaccia di Pergola). After fermentation, the product is allowed to rest for a few months and is bottled in the following spring.


Why is it called Visciola del Lupo?

The name Visciola del Lupo comes from the cultivation and production territory. In fact, ancient maps of the region refer to the area by the term “Madonna del Guardalupo” due to the presence of a small ancient church bearing this name. The presence of this building is surrounded by an old legend featuring a wolf, from which Luca Tenti was inspired to name his main product.

Its fresh notes, which search for fatty foods, also make it a great match for cheeses, dairy products in general, and even chestnuts. Finally, like the best passito wines, it can be used as a meditation wine.
