The Russu di Carpene Etna Rosso DOC 2017 by Tenuta Monte Gorna is a red wine that shows us how Etna can give us great wines.
Grapes: Nerello Mascalese 80% and Nerello Cappuccio 20%.
Vineyard: South/East slope, in the Carpene/Monte Gorna area at 760 meters above sea level. Surrounded by chestnut, oak, and broom woods that provide the vineyard with an ideal microclimate for grape maturation. Volcanic, sandy soil, rich in gravel and organic substances. Terraced.
Training system: guyot system, with a single spurred cordon at a density of 2.20 x 0.85 m. Temperate climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night.
Cultivation method: Traditional, with no chemical phytosanitary treatments; organic farming has been practiced for over ten years, regularly certified.
Vinification and aging: red vinification with temperature-controlled fermentation and pre-fermentation maceration with pomace. Subsequent maturation in stainless steel tanks for 8 months and aging in steel for 6 months and no less than another 12 in the bottle.
