The Spumante Brut Rosè Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT by Pojer e Sandri is a highly classy brut, definitely among the best from this winery.
Grapes used: 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay.
Geographical location of the vineyard: Faedo in the Pianezzi area at 500 m. a.s.l. with a South-West exposure and Palai area at 700 m. a.s.l. with a South exposure; Cembra in the Valbona locality (a side valley of Val di Cembra) at an altitude of 450 m. a.s.l.
Training system: “Trentino open pergola” with 6000 vines per hectare in Faedo and guyot with 6200 plants per hectare in Cembra.
Soil type: Faedo is located between the Permian formation of the porphyritic platform (volcanic rock) and the Werfenian deposits of sandstones, siltstones, marls, limestones, and dolomites. The soil varies in depth from 30 to 100 cm, it is loamy-calcareous and rests on a marly conglomerate.
Valbona, on the other hand, was shaped in ancient times by the retreat of glaciers and later by the work of the Scorzai stream. By eroding into the porphyritic rock (volcanic origin), sandy soils of dark brown color, rich in skeletal materials, were formed.
Production notes: The base fermentation takes place in small oak barrels, with Pinot Noir in particular being placed in barrels previously used for aging our distillate “Divino”. The base wines remain on their own yeast for 6 months, with the “hourglass effect” requiring the wine to be stirred weekly. In spring, it is transferred to bottle fermentation. Riddling is done for at least 18/24 months of aging on the lees.
Alcohol content: 12.5%
Expected wine longevity: 5–6 years from disgorgement.
The Spumante Brut Rosé Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT by Pojer e Sandri can be the star of your aperitifs. It pairs very well with savory baked goods and is excellent with a marinara pizza.
Wine with an antique pink color and coppery reflections, very fine with a persistent crown.
With a broad and complex aroma, red fruits: maraschino cherry and raspberries, clearly recalling the characteristics of pinot noir, with underlying notes of Chardonnay: almond paste, hazelnut, and hay. All complemented by fragrances of Viennese pastry: vanilla, roasted barley coffee, cocoa.
On the palate, it is straightforward, creamy, and substantial, the harmony is achieved after an appropriate dosage (Brut).
The sapidity, a distinctive characteristic of Chardonnay, cultivated at high altitude, makes it a rosé of great drinkability. Ideal as an aperitif or for chatting in good company.
