Agri.Comes

There are economic choices that poison the earth and consume the Planet. Those who work alongside social fragilities witness every day the consequences of ways of living that marginalize those who struggle. In response to this scenario and to give voice to a happier and more balanced development, Agri.Comes, a social agricultural cooperative managing activities in the agriculture of the Community of Sasso Montegianni, has chosen to run the business according to the rules of Organic Agriculture, with techniques attentive to the proper management of soils, water, and air, while excluding the use of synthetic chemical products or genetically modified organisms. All this is aimed at implementing socio-labor inclusion projects designed and managed within the protected pathways offered by a reception community.

Chestnut groves and chestnuts represent the emblem of the cultural, rural, and gastronomic tradition of the local community. Until a few years ago, the activities of the families in Marradi and its surroundings revolved almost exclusively around the careful and meticulous care of the chestnut groves, which provided the necessary resources to meet the food needs of the farmers. Not surprisingly, the chestnut tree was commonly referred to by the valley families as "the bread tree," precisely because a wide variety of dishes could be prepared from its fruits.

The chestnuts that come from these groves are none other than the “Marron Buono,” the true flagship of Agri.Comes products, a particular ecotype of the IGP Chestnut from the Mugello area (Protected Geographical Indication) under E.E.C. Regulation No. 2081/92: this important European recognition, obtained in 1996, enhanced the chemical-physical, organoleptic, and nutritional properties of this peculiar local product.
