In 2001, Salvatore Grasso, the owner of the company, met "Uncle Pietro," who had cultivated Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio on this land throughout his life. He showed him the peculiarities of each single terrace, each different from the other based on the lava stratifications. The location, climate, and landscape were ideal, so he decided to purchase these two hectares in the heart of the DOC area. Subsequently, eliminating the old unproductive vines, protruding boulders, and reducing the terraces while respecting the existing directional originality, in 2009 he planted a new vineyard on a hectare of land with about 7000 vines, all coming from old centennial cuttings of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, of which 5000 plants were planted in double Guyot and the other approximately 2000 in bush training. The work is carried out mainly by family management, from winter pruning to harvesting, as well as in the phases of winemaking and aging. The area where the Company is located is Solicchiata, a fraction of Castiglione di Sicilia, Montedolce district, at an extinct crater about 850 m above sea level, bordering the Etna Park, from which it takes its name.
