The company Nettuno was founded in 1950 by Raffaele Giordano with the idea of focusing on the processing of fish and fruit and vegetable products; this activity was later set aside to mainly dedicate itself to the unique and exclusive products offered by the sea of Cetara.
Nettuno and the Anchovy Fillets of Cetara
Since the 1950s, Nettuno has distinguished itself in the production of anchovy fillets that in those early years of the company were even distributed by bicycle; in the mid-1950s, a Lambretta was purchased, and two years later, the first van, a Fiat 500. In the 1980s and 1990s, a fish shop was opened alongside the small factory, which was later closed.
The Rediscovery of Anchovy Sauce
In the mid-1990s, there began in the village the rediscovery of the ancient condiment that is the pride of the tables of Cetara, the anchovy sauce, which over the years gained national notoriety and beyond. Thus, a good part of the company’s efforts has focused on this delicious product, without neglecting, however, all the other fish products that have characterized our work since its foundation.
Currently, the company is managed by the founder's sons, Vincenzo and Giulio Giordano, who passionately continue the family business, never losing sight of the traditions and the connection with the village. In fact, production is linked to the quantities and types of local catch, as the products are entirely hand-processed with raw materials exclusively from the area.
Tradition and territory are the words that Vincenzo and Giulio like the most because "only in this way can the ancient flavors of Cetara be preserved and offered and our maritime tradition be spread."
