The Colterenzio Winery is one of the youngest cooperative realities in South Tyrol, formed by more than 300 families of winemakers scattered across the region. It is a reality whose mission is entirely devoted to absolute quality, boasting a production of unparalleled excellence.


Colterenzio Winery: an example of sustainability

The story of the Colterenzio winery begins in 1960, when 26 winemakers decided to unite, thereby becoming independent from wine merchants who, at the time, resolutely determined selling prices.

In 1979, Luis Rafer became the director of this small cooperative, a key figure in the development of Colterenzio. Luis, based on his travels in the New World and his studies, brought a new wine vision to South Tyrol, introducing new quality standards and reducing yields in the vineyard to produce grapes suited for only excellent wines. Thus, a new mentality was transferred to all cooperative members, who gradually increased, reaching today with as many as 300 winemakers involved in the Colterenzio project.

The planted hectares currently total about three hundred, and among the rows, every agronomic practice is structured to respect the rhythms of nature and to enhance the peculiar character of the territory and the fruit. Autochthonous varieties and international varieties grow side by side, resulting in vineyards featuring grapes of Chardonnay and Lagrein, Merlot and Schiava, Gewürztraminer and Cabernet, Pinot Noir and Moscato Giallo, Pinot Grigio and Moscato Rosa, Sauvignon Blanc and Müller Thurgau.

Bunches are transformed in modern winemaking facilities using the most innovative oenological technologies, creating a range of labels that truly meet every consumer's needs.

The Colterenzio Winery is a place where nothing is left to chance, where electricity is produced on-site, and where the beautiful new structure is an example of sustainability for the entire national wine sector.


Colterenzio Winery: where wine meets excellence

The vineyards of the Colterenzio winery primarily develop around the areas of Colterenzio, Cornaiano, Appiano, Bolzano, and Salorno. A true puzzle of vineyards, located at an altitude above sea level between 250 and 550 meters, where the terroir composition varies from plot to plot. The climate is characterized by a unique situation, with the Alps serving as a barrier to the colder winds, while Lake Garda brings in its milder influences; thus, the ideal conditions are created for excellent temperature excursions, contributing to making the grapes very fragrant. Between the rows, various international and autochthonous white and red berry varieties are cultivated, and work harmonizes with the rhythms dictated by nature.

In the winery, every operation is carried out by gravity, and the winemaking is overseen by the watchful eye of the master winemaker, Martin Lemayr.

Colterenzio stands out for a range of wines where quality is the common thread of every label produced. There are no compromises because every bottle must be a faithful representation of the character of a territory and the variety of grapes cultivated there. Various lines of wines are marketed, where the products branded “Lafòa” reach truly envied quality peaks.
