The Colterenzio Winery is one of the youngest cooperatives in South Tyrol, consisting of more than 300 families of winemakers scattered throughout the territory.
It is a reality, whose mission is entirely dedicated to the highest quality, and which can boast a production of undisputed excellence.
of sustainability
The history of the Colterenzio winery began in 1960, when 26 winemakers decided to join together, thus becoming independent from wine merchants, who at the time used to determine sales prices very firmly.
In 1979, Luis Rafer became director of this small cooperative, a fundamental figure in the development of Colterenzio. Luis, also in the light of his travels to the New World and his studies, became the bearer of a new oenological vision in South Tyrol, introducing new quality standards and lowering yields in the vineyard, in order to have suitable grapes and make only excellent wines. A new mentality, therefore, which was transmitted to all the members of the cooperative, who gradually increased, reaching today, where there are even 300 winemakers involved in the Colterenzio project.
There are currently about three hundred hectares under vines, and among the rows every agronomic practice is designed to respect the rhythms of nature and to enhance the peculiar character of the territory and fruit. Indigenous varieties and international varieties grow side by side, so in the vineyards you can find Chardonnay and Lagrein, Merlot and Schiava, Gewürztraminer and Cabernet, Pinot Noir and Moscato Giallo, Pinot Grigio and Moscato Rosa, Sauvignon Blanc and Müller Thurgau.
Bunches that in modern winemaking facilities are transformed using the most innovative oenological technologies, so as to create a range of labels that can truly meet any consumer need.
The Colterenzio Winery is a place where nothing is left to chance, where l&' electricity is produced on site and where the beautiful and new structure is an example of sustainability for the entire
national wine sector.
The vineyards of the Colterenzio winery are mainly developed around the areas of Colterenzio, Cornaiano, Appiano, Bolzano and Salorno. A real puzzle of vineyards, located between 250 and 550 meters above sea level, where the composition of the terroir varies from parcel to parcel. The climate is characterized by a particular situation, which sees on the one hand the Alps acting as a barrier to the coldest winds, on the other, Lake Garda, with its milder influences; therefore, ideal conditions are created for an excellent temperature range, which helps to make the grapes very fragrant. Among the rows, various international and native varieties of white and red berries are cultivated, and the works always harmonize with the rhythms set by nature.
In the cellar, every operation is carried out by gravity, and the vinification is followed by the watchful eye of the master cellarman, Martin Lemayr.
Colterenzio is characterized by a range of wines where quality is the common thread of every label created. There is no middle ground, because each bottle must be the faithful representation of the character of a territory and of the variety of grapes cultivated there.
There are several lines of wines marketed, where the products marked “Lafòa” reach truly enviable peaks of quality.
