La Contarina is a small but prestigious oil mill located in an ancient stone farmhouse dating back to the 1700s, on the hills of Verona that border the Valle di Mezzane and Illasi. The Valle di Mezzane, in particular, is a uniquely climatic treasure ideal for the production of EVO oil. A substrate of marl and sandstones, an unspoiled nature, the absence of any invasive urban settlement, and a closed valley shape that maintains controlled temperatures throughout the year with excellent thermal swings, especially during the fruit ripening period.
This EVO DOP Veneto Valpolicella Slow Food Oil is an exciting oil. It presents a green emerald color, with a medium fruity aroma, and a pleasant sensation of green grass and tomato leaf. The harmonious taste, very balanced and complex, recalls aromatic herbs and wild arugula, slightly bitter herbs, and field flowers, such as dandelion or hawthorn. Pungent and persistent in fruity notes, it leaves a pleasant sensation of freshness and cleanliness on the palate, accompanied by an elegant harmony of flavors. Cultivar: Grignano, Favarol/Perlarol, Leccino, and Trepp. Acidity 0.12 - Peroxides 6.0 - Polyphenols 400 - Oleic Acid 75.50 - Ethyl Esters 1.50/2.0.

This EVO Oil DOP Veneto Valpolicella Slow Food by La Contarina is an eclectic product, to be placed with ease on various dishes.
It is best suited for boiled fish, gentle white and red meats, cooked and raw vegetables, zucchini cream soup, pumpkin, peas, carrots, paired with soft and fresh cheeses like Monte Veronese, Asiago.
Ideal for fish in crudités such as scampi, Sicilian red shrimp, prawns, and red tuna tartare from Favignana. It makes dishes of Gragnano pasta with Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio DOP and sautéed seafood very flavorful.
Excellent for enhancing vegetable creams and soups in general, particularly with pumpkin and amaretti.
Also to be paired with Chianina IGP meat tartare or Fassona or Charolaise meat. We recommend it on vanilla or fiordilatte ice cream or on 60-70% criollo dark chocolate. A great oil: exceptional and versatile!
