The Barolo DOCG Riserva Gabutti 2009 by Sordo Giovanni is an austere, generous, and highly long-lived wine, considered a pride of Italian enology.
It is produced entirely from Nebbiolo grapes, harvested and selected exclusively by hand.
Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo
Vineyard: planted in one of the sub-zones, defined by Ratti as “first category, with high qualitative characteristics, among the most interesting and prestigious of the Municipality of Serralunga.
Soil: geologically distinguished as part of the Lequio formation with not very compact clayey-limestone marls from the Elvetian period. The slope of the vineyards and their position sheltered from the winds confirm the accounts of the older generations, who assure that there is a microclimate more favorable than ever to the cultivation of Nebbiolo.
Training system: espalier with traditional Gujot pruning.
Processing: Crushing-destemming, long submerged cap maceration of 4-6 weeks.
Winemaking: In stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature.
Aging: 6 months in stainless steel tanks
Refinement: 24/48 months in large oak barrels.
Maturation: 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels
Year: 2009
