The Cubeb is one of the oldest peppers that comes from the Island of Java.
Produced in great quantities as early as the fourth century B.C. so much so that Theophrastus mentions this spice arriving in Greece and being considered somewhat like the gold of the tables of that time. Marco Polo also talks about it.
