South Tyrol Gewurztraminer Passito DOC “Cresta” (half) - Rottensteiner

Despite the production starting in 1999, the quality of this wine has generated a lot of buzz and has been awarded in various national and international competitions.

Where does Gewurztraminer Passito DOC Cresta Alto Adige come from?

The grapes for Cresta, 100% gewürztraminer, are grown at the Kristplonerhof estate in Guncina, one of the oldest in Bolzano. The name of the wine refers to the old denomination of this area: cresta piana, which over time has indeed become Kristploner.

South Tyrol Gewurztraminer Passito DOC “Cresta” (half) - Rottensteiner: How is it produced

The best grapes of the Traminer variety are selected and dried on racks for about five months, then they are pressed, continuing the maturation in steel. This way, a wine with a rich and bright golden yellow color is created, substantial and aromatic, with a sweet and delicate flavor.
