Glacial mint is a common plant that can be easily cultivated throughout Italy. The genus Mentha belongs to the Lamiaceae family and includes plants native to Europe, whose cultivation began in the late 18th century in England. There are indeed numerous varieties, at least thirty, of different types of mint, but the one we will focus on is precisely the glacial mint, also known as rotundifolia, a very rustic perennial stoloniferous herb.
The ice mint in the kitchen truly has numerous uses. From infusions to ice creams, its flavor adds a pleasant freshness even to meat and fish dishes.
However, it should preferably be used as an aromatizer for liquors, cocktails, candies, chewing gum, mint ice cream, mint syrup, and iced summer drinks, based on water, tea, or milk.
If you love its aroma stronger than other varieties of mint, you can also use ice mint in addition to new potatoes, peas, soups, stews, and much more.
In medicine, the infusion of ice mint is digestive, cures colds and influenzas. With a mixture of leaves soaked in oil, massage the affected areas from migraines, facial neuralgias, rheumatic and muscular pains. Moreover, it is said that rinses based on mint relieve sore throat.
