Azienda Agricola Mirù is one of the most important wineries in the province of Novara.
L&' Azienda Agricola Mirù is located in Ghemme, a small town in the province of Novara, in Piedmont. Some writings even date back to the 16th century the name Mirù, referring to an ancient family of winemakers, whose descendants are still producers of the interesting wines of the Novara hills.
It is a &' an activity that has been handed down from generation to generation, until today. In fact, today it is managed by Marco Arlunno who since 2009 has taken over the management of the company, Mirù, founded in 1978 by his father Eugenio, still present and active in the vineyard and in the cellar, taking up what was the family business before the years of the industrial boom.
The passion for vines is a family legacy. Marco Arlunno found his thanks to his aunt Bruna Zecchinato, a wine woman, who transmitted to him her love for the land and for wine. From her he learned the taste of transforming grapes into quality wines and eventually becoming a winemaker.
L&' Azienda Agricola Mirù continues to be family-run and can count on 10 hectares of vineyards managed with care
, dedication and passion.
The wines of the Mirù company are characterized by the right sugar and alcohol content and by good fixed acidity, which helps to enhance their aromas and to maintain them over time.
It is thanks to natural cultivation methods and careful refinement that the wines of Azienda Agricola Mirù can, with good reason, rank among the best Italian wines, appreciated both in Italy and abroad.
The territory of the Novara Hills is unique for its geological and morphological characteristics, the morainic-alluvial soils have a greater silt-clay component in the lower part of the hill; they are slightly looser in the upper part, with clays, sand and pebbles that characterize the layer of soil in which the roots of the vine sink.
In the vineyards of Azienda Agricola Mirù located in the heart of the Novara hills, within the hilly area of the municipalities of Ghemme and Sizzano, the acid-reacting soil gives the grapes minerality and freshness, with the consequent verticality of the wines they produce.
In younger vineyards, vines are cultivated with high planting densities as simple Guyot, while in older vineyards, preference is given to double Guyot. This type of plant allows the improvement of the growth of the bunches and the plant, thus respecting the naturalness of the grapes and the surrounding environment.
From this careful and meticulous processing, fine wines are born, appreciated by the modern consumer who seeks balanced and elegant wines, such as the prestigious Ghemme DOCG.
