Colonnara is a cooperative winery in the Marche region that, thanks to a historic great passion and expertise, has become an ambassador for Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.

Colonnara: over 60 years of passion for excellence

The Colonnara winery was founded in 1959 on the initiative of 19 founding members, in Cupramontana, in what has been defined as “the capital of Verdicchio” of Castelli di Jesi. The historic core of the Colonnara vineyards is located on the right bank of the Esino river, between the municipalities of Cupramontana, Apiro, Staffolo, San Paolo di Jesi. This particular medium-high hill area gives the wines a mineral and acidic characteristic, which has proved to be decisive in the development of Colonnara's excellent products.

Starting in the early sixties and with the recognition of the Verdicchio DOC in 1968, experimentation began on the potential of this grape variety and on the aging possibilities of one of the few Italian whites suitable for aging. In the 1970s, the first Verdicchio sparkling wine was produced with the Martinotti Method. The sparkling wine tradition of Cupramontana was recovered by Luigi Ghislieri who thus began the production of Colonnara sparkling wines. Ten years later, in the 80s, the first Verdicchio sparkling wine was produced with the Classic Method.

In 1997, Ubaldo Rosi was born and the following year Verdicchio Superiore Tufico came to life, which takes its name from the particular type of soil in the vineyards from which the grapes for its production come.
Finally, in honor of the president of the Cooperative who recovered the Cupramontana sparkling wine tradition in the 70s, Luigi Ghislieri sparkling wine was created in 2010.

The company now has 110 members and, thanks to the use of innovative technologies and the practice of environmentally friendly agriculture, it has developed a production characterized by high quality wines and sparkling wines, distributed throughout the country and abroad.

Discovering Colonnara wines means meeting the stories of winemaking partners who for decades have cared about the careful and rigorous cultivation of grapes in the vineyard, then entrusted to the care and experience of winemakers and oenologists.

The flavor of tradition, in fact, accompanies the entire vinification process: from the constant care of the rows to the aging cellar, to the care of the bottles that enrich your table. A real hymn to the quality of wine.

The constant search for the highest quality of wines, starting from a harmonious integration between the characteristics of the territory and a series of rigorous choices, such as absolute respect for the natural balance in the cultivation of the vines and the application of traditional vinification systems to guarantee the maximum genuineness of the product.
