The Hemberg estate of Klaus Lentsch is an ideal territory for the great aromatic wines typical of South Tyrol. The vineyard is located at the beginning of the Isarco Valley, in the Campodazzo estate. These are vineyards that can be seen from the highway, steeply climbing along the walls that rise along the valley's slopes. This wine comes from a careful selection of grape clusters in the vineyard, and from a fermentation that lasts at 17°C for about two weeks. A long period after which racking takes place and subsequently fermentation in stainless steel with its own yeasts follows.
Klaus Lentsch is part of the large family of winemakers that is part of H. Lentsch, a historic producers' family founded in 1882. In 2008, Klaus purchased the estate located in Campodazzo. A unique property consisting of three vineyards, each dedicated to three typical grape varieties of the Alto Adige region. The property is based on a farmhouse from the 1200s, where grapes were already being produced, as evidenced by the sales documents from that time. The three crus are: Eichberg, Fuchslane, and Bachgart. In the first, Veltliner is cultivated; in the second, Traminer Aromatico; and finally, in the third, Pinot Nero. Today, the winery is technologically advanced and operates in accordance with the most modern knowledge regarding the preservation of the purity of the raw material and the identity of the grape variety. Klaus Lentsch is part of the Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers.
It is a wine rich in primary aromatic components, elderflower, white flowers, jasmine. White fruit, peach, and apple with components of lychee and sweet spices. On the palate, it is seductive and dense with warm and spicy aromas. Very pleasant and typical. Long persistence and a decidedly harmonious and slightly almondy finish.
Pairings. It pairs well with crabs, lobsters, shrimp, lobster, goose liver, spicy cheese, suitable as an aperitif. Good also with flavorful and slightly spicy cheeses such as spicy Bagoss, aged Monte Veronese DOP, Vezzena Stravecchio.
