The tarallo is one of the most recognized Italian products abroad. Mainly produced in Puglia but with a tradition that sees other Italian regions like Campania, Basilicata, and Sicily involved. In Naples, it is believed that they had their first origin, but the legends surrounding its first appearance are numerous and, like every regional product in Italy, strongly contradictory. It is our history, our tradition from the small ancient villages anchored to the sea and to the more inland lands. The simplest and humblest expression of street food. A delicacy today that has been revived and has even become a product safeguarded by national law, having been included in the PAT (Typical Agri-food Product). They were made from leftover bread, mixed with lard and wine. The Pugliese version differs because it uses extra virgin olive oil, of which Puglia is a leading producer. The taralli produced and offered by DolceArea are the most traditional, handmade, twisted and knotted by hand, with chunks of product that make them unique and incredibly tasty. They are baked, and this is also their characteristic. So NOT fried. They are unique Taralli... a surprise for our palates.
The chili pepper is a typical product of our Italian southern regions. Not only Calabria but also Puglia and Basilicata. The spicy tarallini are... spicy.
In fact, here you will also find pieces of spicy chili pepper, and you can see them in the dough as well.
Always in line with DolceArea's philosophy, which does not use additives or substitutes but rather the raw material in its natural chunk form.
This makes these tarallini a delight for the palate, sweet, salty, and spicy.
Perfect for snacking when you feel like some pleasure for our palate.
Ideal for sparkling wines and to accompany creamy and tangy cheeses.
