The Sicilian Retato Melon we present comes from organic farms located in Marsala, in the province of Trapani. This variety is characterized by a skin interwoven with embossed lines and by a flesh of intense yellow color (almost orange) that is particularly fragrant, sweet, and tasty. It is called Retato precisely because of the reticulation on the skin, with well-defined slices.
A quality of melon highly appreciated by restaurateurs as it has numerous uses in the kitchen. It contains 90% water and has excellent organoleptic properties: it has many vitamins (especially A and C) that counteract the harmful activity of free radicals; a good percentage of potassium which has great benefits for circulation and blood pressure; it has preventative activity against strokes and heart attacks; it helps keep the eyes healthy; it is detoxifying thanks to its minerals; it has very few calories and immediately creates a sense of fullness reducing appetite; it stimulates the production of melanin, the main pigment in our skin.
