This extraordinary Rosso Scuro DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli by Scubla is the result of the selection of the best Merlot grapes, 90% with a balance of overripe Refosco dal peduncolo rosso. The true top of the range of Scubla reds!
Grapes: 80% Merlot, 20% Refosco dal peduncolo rosso.
Location and vineyards: hilly marl soils; selection of the best grapes harvested after normal ripening, more markedly for Refosco. Selection is based on the degree of ripeness and color of the bunches. Modified double guyot training.
Harvest: manual, after mid-October; 55-60 quintals per hectare.
Winemaking: fermentation takes place in steel for about 16 days of contact with the skins; after racking, the wine matures for about 18 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux, 50% new and 50% of various ages, then for another 10 months blended in steel, followed by bottle aging for 3 months.

A wine with an intense ruby red color, it develops complex composite aromas of warm red fruits and spices; the persistent finish is provided by soft tannins.
