This extraordinary Isei Valdarno di Sopra Pratomagno Riserva DOC di Campo di Monte is a Supertuscany obtained from a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah produced for the first time in 2003. It is a wine with an intense ruby red color and aromas predominantly of red berry fruits, supported by beautiful notes of spices. Savory, fruity, fresh, and tannic, just right for an excellent wine aged one year in oak barrels and another year in the bottle.
Soil Composition: sandy-loam soil without skeleton, mainly exposed to north/south, on the hills of Valdarno di Sopra at an average height of 295 meters above sea level.
Vineyard: low spur trained vine system with 5000 vines per hectare.
Quality of Grapes: Sangiovese grosso, main clones B2, B4 rootstock R140. Merlot rootstock SO4, Cabernet Sauvignon clones 337-338-341 rootstock R140; Syrah 174 rootstock SO4. Forty-five hectoliters are produced per hectare.
Harvest: the harvest is manual, generally carried out from the first decade of September. Each grape is vinified separately.
Winemaking: during the harvest, the grapes are carefully selected. After destemming, red vinification is carried out with fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. The fermentations last from twenty-four to thirty days depending on the clone and the quality of the grapes in relation to the vintage. Isei is a wine obtained from several wines vinified separately. After racking, each wine is aged separately in steel, and for the international varieties, selected French oak barrels are used for each, both new and first and second passage. The wines are aged in wood for at least one year. After a year, the first batches are selected that will undergo another year of aging. Finally, after careful selection, the final blend is generated and bottled. Bottle aging lasts at least three months. The wine is generally ready three years after the harvest.
