The Armagnac di Marie Duffau is a French brandy with a controlled designation of origin, produced in the historic region of Gascony.
This brandy takes its name from the ancient county of Armagnac, which corresponds to the current production area.
The Armagnac is the oldest spirit in France, and the first traces of this brandy date back to the Middle Ages when it was referred to as aygue ardente, distilled and used as medicine in ancient universities and also in monasteries.
The Armagnac by Marie Duffau is usually enjoyed at the end of a meal, neat and at room temperature. The recommended glass is a slightly closed balloon glass, not too large to best concentrate the aromas without emphasizing the alcohol too much. A tulip glass is also recommended.
This brandy should be poured into the glass and then swirled, bringing it briefly and frequently to the nose and then to the mouth.
The Armagnac pairs excellently with pastry made with dried fruits, especially those containing almonds and vanilla. It also pairs well with well-aged jamon serrano and also with patanegra. Ideal for concluding a dinner among friends.
