The Ginberg by Officina degli Infusi is a craft gin produced with Calabrian bergamot and carefully selected medicinal herbs. A gin that smells of Italy and encapsulates the entire tradition of great master distillers.
A gin that is a genuine ode to Calabria, a completely original celebration of this incredible land, a very clear intention right from the choice of raw materials.
Ginberg is an unfiltered cold compound gin, meaning it is an unfiltered gin made cold, which is prepared using a smooth grain alcohol base with an alcohol content of 96.5% vol., to which various herbs and bergamot, a true symbol of Calabria, are then added.
This particular technique, dating back to the American Prohibition era of the 1920s, allows for greater extraction of the essential oils contained in bergamot and other medicinal herbs.
The result is a decidedly more complex gin, in which the aromas harmoniously blend to create something truly unprecedented, completely different from classic distilled gins.
Moreover, Ginberg is not filtered precisely to maintain all the essential oils obtained from the herbs, which enhance its aroma and flavor, and the natural color released by them during maceration.
It is important to note that all the herbs are distilled again to release all their aromatic properties, a key element to give even more body and aroma to the gin.
The water is another essential element in the production of Ginberg: primarily used to reduce the alcohol content, the water, sourced from a spring located almost 2000 meters above sea level, gives this gin a very particular aromatic note.
The Ginberg is mainly intended for mixing in the preparation of the great and most appreciated cocktails of tradition. In particular, Ginberg is perfect for creating an amazing Gin&Tonic, perhaps using a Premium Indian Tonic (Feever tree).
Another alternative could also be consuming it neat, a method that will allow you to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity.
Ginberg on the nose is complex and presents predominant notes of bergamot, as well as herbal and finally spicy notes. On the palate, it is rich and intense, very savory but at the same time fresh.
In the mouth, it leaves a persistent flavor and slightly bitter taste, caused by the bergamot, which is however simultaneously its unique and distinctive characteristic compared to other gins.
